On November 22, 2023, the Indian stock market concluded the trading day positively for the second consecutive session, navigating through volatility. The Sensex gained 92.47 points, or 0.14%, reaching a closing figure of 66,023.24, while the Nifty closed at 19,811.80, marking an increase of 28.40 points, or 0.14%.
According to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange, foreign institutional investors (FII) offloaded shares amounting to Rs 306.56 crore, whereas domestic institutional investors (DII) purchased stocks worth Rs 721.24 crore on the same day.
On Thursday, the stock market saw a positive start as both the Sensex and Nifty recorded gains of 0.22% and 0.23%, respectively. Additionally, Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap outperformed, opening with even stronger performances at 0.29% and 0.75%, respectively.
Market volatility, as measured by India VIX, experienced a modest decline of 0.42%, signalling a slight reduction in market uncertainty.
In terms of sectors, Nifty Realty, Nifty Media, and Nifty PSU Bank emerged as the top contributors to the overall positive sentiment, while Nifty Pharma stood out as the only major sector currently underperforming.
Looking at individual stocks within the Nifty 50, Bajaj Auto, Eicher Motors, and HDFC Life led the gainers, whereas Cipla, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, and Ultra Tech Cement faced losses.
The broader market sentiment remained optimistic, with 1480 advancing stocks outnumbering 349 declining ones, underscoring the prevailing positive outlook in the broader market.
