In the U.S. market, stocks recorded gains on Wednesday, driven by a temporary decline in yields to their lowest level in two months. The positive momentum from November persisted into the Thanksgiving holiday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 184.74 points, or 0.53%, closing at 35,273.03. The S&P 500 observed a 0.41% uptick, concluding at 4,556.62, and the Nasdaq Composite progressed by 0.46%, reaching 14,265.86. 

On November 23, 2023, oil prices underwent a 1% decline, extending losses amidst speculations that OPEC+ might refrain from deepening output cuts in the upcoming year, following the delay in the producer group’s policy meeting. In futures trading, the Dollar index traded 0.06% lower at 103.32, while the value of one dollar remained around Rs 83.31. 

As per provisional data from the National Stock Exchange, foreign institutional investors net purchased shares valued at Rs 255.53 crore, while domestic institutional investors acquired stocks worth Rs 457.39 crore on November 23, 2023. 

Top gainers and losers on the Nifty 50 index are as follows: 

The market commenced on a positive trajectory, with the Sensex advancing by 66 points, equivalent to 0.10%, and settling at 66,084.70. Concurrently, the Nifty 50 registered an uptick of 27 points, translating to a 0.14% increase, concluding at 19,829.70. Among the equities listed, 1615 exhibited gains, 434 faced declines, and 121 remained unchanged. 

Prominent gainers on the Nifty 50 included Cipla, Divis Labs, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Grasim Industries, and NTPC. Conversely, notable losers encompassed TCS, BPCL, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Apollo Hospitals, and Bharti Airtel. 

In terms of sectoral performance, Nifty Pharma demonstrated the most significant positive momentum, while Nifty IT emerged as the least robust performer throughout the session.
