Upper Circuit Stocks Today – 28 February, 2024

Although the Indian frontline indices started today’s trading session with a flat performance, they later experienced a sharp decline, particularly impacting the energy, oil & gas, power, and telecommunications sectors, which suffered the most damage. The BSE Information Technology and BSE Consumer Durables were the only indices to register gains. With 1,192 shares rising on the BSE and 2,400 shares declining, the advance-decline ratio strongly remained in favour of declines.

Top gainers and losers on the BSE Sensex index are as follows: 

At 11:00 am, the BSE Sensex tumbled 0.59%, reaching a level of 72,666. The Nifty 50 index plunged 0.66% to the 22,051 level. On the Sensex, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and Tech Mahindra were among the top gainers, whereas Asian Paints, Maruti Suzuki and Power Grid Corporation of India were among the market draggers.

The broader indices also saw a sharp decline, reflecting the weakness observed in the main indices. The BSE Mid-cap index showed a downward trend, reaching 39,352 levels and recording a loss of 0.98%, whereas the BSE Small-cap index experienced a slump of 1.28%. Leading the mid-cap gains were Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd andAditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd, while Thyrocare Technologies Ltd and Jindal Worldwide Ltd emerged as the top small-cap gainers.
