On Friday, the benchmark indices were trading lower with the Sensex up around 200 points or 0.27% at 72,210 while the Nifty-50 up around 55 points or 0.25% at 21,725. About 1,910 shares have advanced, 1,548 declined, and 173 are unchanged on the BSE.
The top Sensex gainers were Tata Motors Ltd, Nestle India Ltd and Wipro Ltd whereas the top Sensex losers were State Bank of India, Infosys Ltd and Kotak Mahindra Bank.
The indices in the broader markets were trading higher, with the BSE Mid-cap index up 0.28% and the BSE Small-cap index up 0.48%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd and Vodafone Idea Ltd while the top small-cap gainers were 3i Infotech Ltd and Apollo Micro Systems Ltd
The BSE FMCG Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and the BSE Oil & Gas Index was the top losing sector. The BSE FMCG Index soared 0.90% led by Dodla Dairy Ltd and Agro Tech Foods Ltd while the BSE Oil & Gas Index was down 1.1% dragged down by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
