On Friday, both the Sensex and Nifty started on a positive note, showing gains of 0.25% and 0.24%, respectively. About 2,062 shares have advanced, 1,218 declined, and 196 are unchanged on the BSE.
The top Sensex gainers were Tata Motors Ltd, HCL Tech Ltd and HDFC Bank Ltd, whereas the top Sensex losers were Asian Paints Ltd, Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
The BSE Auto Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and the BSE Oil & Gas Index was the top losing sector. The BSE Auto Index soared 1.25%, led by Bajaj Auto Ltd and Hero Moto Corp Ltd while the BSE Oil & Gas Index dipped by 0.39% dragged down by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
The indices in the broader markets were trading on a positive note, with the BSE Mid-cap index up by 0.45% and the BSE Small-cap index soaring by 0.50%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were New India Assurance Company Ltd and Indian Overseas Bank Ltd while the top small-cap gainers were Shakti Pumps (India) Ltd and GMR Power and Urban Infra Ltd.
