On May 28, 2024, VA Tech Wabag Limited informed in a stock exchange filing that the company had received an order from Nama Water Services in the Sultanate of Oman. The order is worth around ₹850 million, and it is towards the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of the Al Duqm Desalination Plant for a period of 5 years.

WABAG built this 8 MLD Desalination Plant over a decade ago and managed its operations and maintenance (O&M) until 2018. This new long-term O&M contract, secured against international competitors, includes managing the Plant, the seawater intake, and the outfall systems.

The company stated that the desalinated water from this Plant will be supplied for domestic use in the Duqm and Haima areas of the Al Wusta Governorate.

Commenting on this significant order, the Sales and Business Development Director of GCC at VA Tech WABAG Ltd, Mr Subramaniam M, said, “In line with our growth strategy, this new order addition in Oman to our already strong O&M order book provides annuity income which helps us with improved cash flow and better revenue predictability. We thank Nama Water Services for their continued confidence in our capabilities and technical competence, which has been key to winning this repeat order.”

The Al Duqm Desalination Plant’s order is one of the significant orders secured by the company this month. Earlier, they also got a repeat order of about USD 49 Million from Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This order was for the Design, Build, and Operate (DBO) towards three Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTP) in Nepal at Sallaghari, Kodku and Dhobighat to treat about 69 MLD of Waste Water. It is anticipated to be completed over a period of 24 months, followed by a five-year operation and maintenance (O&M).

Earlier this month, the company reported their financial performance for FY 2024. In the financial year 2023 – 2024, the company’s consolidated Revenue from operations was at ₹28,564 million. The consolidated EBITDA was ₹3,768 million, which grew by 8% YoY. VA Tech WABAG Ltd’s consolidated PAT was ₹2,456 million, which is up 9% YoY.
