After starting the trading session flat, Indian headline indices witnessed a sudden drop, impacted by losses in the banking, financial services, real estate and healthcare sectors. Despite this decline, broader indices were trading notably higher today. The BSE Small-cap Index attracted investors with its notable uptrend in an otherwise weak market.

At 10:55 am, the BSE Sensex fell 0.41% reaching a level of 79,594. The Nifty 50 index declined 0.31% to the 24,249 level. On the Sensex, Tata Motors, Tata Steel and ITC Ltd were among the top gainers, whereas Nestle India, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries and HDFC Bank were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

  1. Franklin Industries Ltd

    Shares of Franklin Industries Ltd saw a remarkable 53-fold increase in trading volume, only to experience substantial selling pressure, resulting in a 5% lower circuit lock at Rs 4 per share on the BSE. As a leading provider of contract farming services, the company’s market encompasses agribusinesses, food processors, exporters, retailers, and other organizations in search of dependable and sustainable agricultural produce sources.

  2. Bayer CropScience Ltd

    Shares of Bayer CropScience Ltd witnessed a 51 times surge in trading volume, trading modestly lower at an intraday low of Rs 6,564.10 per share on the BSE. The company is engaged in the Agri care business, primarily involved in the manufacture, sale, and distribution of insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, various other agrochemical products, and corn seeds.

  3. Ashiana Housing Ltd

    Shares of Ashiana Housing Ltd experienced a 34-fold rise in trading volume, showing buying interest despite a generally weak market. The stock climbed more than 3%, reaching an intraday high of Rs 416.45 per share on the BSE. The company is engaged in real estate development, with a core business model focused on purchasing land, developing it into residential buildings, and then selling the properties.
