Indian benchmark indices started the week with a subdued performance, displaying modest fluctuations of gains and losses. The trend was mirrored in broader indices, which also exhibited a downward trajectory. Information technology, consumer durables, and FMCG sectors witnessed significant declines, while metals, auto, and energy sector stocks attempted to mitigate losses with notable gains.

At 10:55 am, the BSE Sensex edged down by 0.04% reaching a level of 72,617. The Nifty 50 index edged down by 0.06% to the 22,010 level. On the Sensex, Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra and JSW Steel were among the top gainers, whereas Nestle India, Asian Paints and Titan were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

  1. ITC Ltd
    Shares of ITC Ltd, experiencing a significant increase in trading volume, were fluctuating between slight gains and losses, hovering around Rs 419.55 per share on the BSE. The company currently operates in several business segments, including FMCG cigarettes, FMCG others, hotels, paperboards, paper and packaging, and agri business. The company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, ITC Infotech, is a specialized global digital solutions provider.
  2. Elpro International Ltd
    Shares of Elpro International Ltd were witnessing a lacklustre trading session, remaining nearly unchanged at Rs 78.61 per share on the BSE. It is involved in the development of real estate properties, including residential complexes, schools, and malls. The company also manufactures arresters, surge protection devices, and metal oxide varistors.
  3. Max Financial Services Ltd
    Shares of Max Financial Services Ltd experienced selling pressure, declining around 2% to reach an intraday low of Rs 943.60 per share on the BSE. The company’s primary focus lies in cultivating and fostering business investments, along with offering management advisory services to Indian group companies. It also offers various insurance products, including traditional savings-cum-protection plans, unit-linked plans, pure protection plans, assured wealth plans, and smart term plans.
