Amid weak investor sentiment across Asian markets, Indian frontline indices experienced a notable decline today, with the metals, oil & gas, energy, and power sectors bearing the brunt of the downturn. Broader indices also faced heavy selling pressure, trading over 1% lower.

At 10:30 am, the BSE Sensex fell 0.22% reaching a level of 81,162. The Nifty 50 index declined 0.39% to the 24,704 level. On the Sensex, Infosys, Asian Paints and HCL Technologies were among the top gainers, whereas Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra and JSW Steel were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

  1. Team Lease Services Ltd

    Shares of Team Lease Services Ltd saw a remarkable surge in trading volume, approximately 38 times the usual, leading to a gain of over 2% and reaching an intraday high of Rs 2,911 per share on the BSE. As one of India’s leading HR companies, Team Lease Services offers a wide array of employment-related services and solutions, including staffing, recruitment, training, payroll processing, and regulatory compliance.

  2. International Combustion (India) Ltd

    Shares of International Combustion (India) Ltd experienced a 10-fold increase in trading volume but faced heavy selling pressure, hitting the 20% lower circuit at Rs 1,363 per share on the BSE during early trades today. The company specializes in manufacturing heavy-duty grinding mills, screening and feeding equipment, conveyors, bulk material handling equipment, industrial gearboxes, and geared motors, serving industries such as steel, cement, fertilizer, chemical, mining, and infrastructure.

  3. VST Industries Ltd

    Shares of VST Industries Ltd surged with a sixfold rise in trading volume, climbing more than 17% to reach a 52-week high of Rs 4,829 per share on the BSE. The company, which manufactures and trades cigarettes, tobacco, and tobacco products, holds a significant position in the domestic market with an approximate 10% market share.
