After experiencing significant declines in multiple trading sessions, Indian benchmark indices saw a sharp upswing today, fuelled by robust gains in metals, power, capital goods, and energy sectors. The surge reflected strong investor optimism, which was also evident in the broader markets.

At 10:30 am, the BSE Sensex climbed 0.99% reaching a level of 72,811. The Nifty 50 index soared 1.00% to the 22,056 level. On the Sensex, Tata Steel, NTPC Ltd and IndusInd Bank were among the top gainers, whereas Nestle India and Maruti Suzuki were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

  1. Tata Investment Corporation Ltd

    Tata Investment Corporation Ltd experienced a remarkable fourfold increase in trading volume, marking a robust reversal as its shares bounced back from a 5% lower circuit to a 5% upper circuit, reaching Rs 6,785.95 per share on the BSE. The company is actively involved in investing in both listed and unlisted equity shares, debt instruments, and mutual funds across diverse industries.

  2. Avenue Supermarts Ltd

    Avenue Supermarts Ltd, with a significant rise in trading volume, saw its shares surge by more than 4% and hit a fresh 52-week high on the BSE, reaching Rs 4,237 per share. Avenue Supermarts Ltd, popularly known as DMart, is a leading national supermarket chain renowned for its emphasis on value retailing. It provides a diverse array of products, particularly focusing on foods, non-foods (FMCG), and general merchandise & apparel categories.

  3. Shiva Cement Ltd

    Shiva Cement Ltd witnessed its trading volume double, resulting in a remarkable 18% gain as its shares peaked at an intraday high of Rs 51.48 per share, positioning it as the top gainer in the BSE Smallcap segment. The company primarily focuses on the manufacturing and sale of cement and clinker, along with the trading of related products.
