Indian benchmark indices kicked off the week on a positive note, buoyed by robust gains in consumer durables, capital goods, oil & gas, and financial services sectors. The broader indices notably outperformed the main indices by a significant margin, signaling a widespread optimism across the broader markets.

At 10:15 am, the BSE Sensex gained 0.38% reaching a level of 73,367. The Nifty 50 index added 0.47% to the 22,250 level. On the Sensex, Wipro, UltraTech Cement Company and Axis Bank were among the top gainers, whereas NTPC Ltd, HDFC Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

  1. Gujarat State Petronet Ltd

    The trading volume of Gujarat State Petronet Ltd saw a notable spurt, resulting in intense selling pressure that caused its shares to be locked at a 20% lower circuit, priced at Rs 302.30 per share on the BSE. The company’s main activities involve transmitting natural gas via pipelines and managing city gas distribution, alongside generating electricity through windmills.

  2. Persistent Systems Ltd

    Persistent Systems Ltd witnessed a doubling in trading volume, followed by a steep decline of over 5%, leading its shares to hit an intraday low of Rs 3,680 per share on the BSE. The company specializes in providing software engineering and strategy services, aiding companies in implementing and modernizing their business operations. It offers solutions encompassing product and platform engineering, cloud-enabled enterprise modernization, data analytics, and artificial intelligence, among others.

  3. Kalyani Investment Company Ltd

    Kalyani Investment Company Ltd experienced a significant four-fold increase in trading volume, propelling its shares to surge over 15% and reach an intraday high of Rs 4,515 per share on the BSE. The company operates as a Core Investment Company, predominantly allocating over 60% of its net assets to equity investments in group companies.
