Benchmark indices started today’s trading session higher but quickly erased gains amidst uncertainties surrounding today’s Union Budget and the anticipated announcements that will shape market direction. Broader indices also struggled to gain momentum. Metals, oil and gas, energy, and financial services were among the top losers, while power, utilities, and capital goods sectors attempted to uplift market sentiment.

At 10:35 am, the BSE Sensex fell 0.12% reaching a level of 80,407. The Nifty 50 index declined 0.22% to the 24,455 level. On the Sensex, ITC Ltd, Larsen & Toubro and UltraTech Cement Company were among the top gainers, whereas Power Grid Corporation of India, Bajaj Finserv and Reliance Industries were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

  1. Elgi Equipments Ltd

    Shares of Elgi Equipments Ltd saw a remarkable surge in trading volume, gaining more than 2% today to reach an intraday high of Rs 696.10 per share on the BSE. The company specializes in manufacturing and supplying automotive equipment, including diesel-powered portable screw compressors, railway air compressors, heat recovery systems, medical air compressors, dryers, air receiver tanks, and other air accessories.

  2. BCL Industries Ltd

    Shares of BCL Industries Ltd experienced a fourfold surge in trading volume, soaring over 9% to reach an intraday high of Rs 66 per share on the BSE. As one of India’s largest agro-processing manufacturing companies, BCL Industries operates across multiple segments including edible oil and vanaspati, distillery, and real estate.

  3. Borosil Renewables Ltd

    Shares of Borosil Renewables Ltd saw a threefold increase in trading volume, climbing more than 11% to reach an intraday high of Rs 534.30 per share on the BSE. As the first and only solar glass manufacturer in India, the company specializes in producing low-iron solar glass for applications in photovoltaic panels, flat plate collectors, and greenhouses.
