Benchmark indices continued their post-budget weakness, trading lower today due to losses in the banking, financial services, and auto sectors. Conversely, the energy, utilities, and power sectors experienced optimistic investor sentiments, showing resilience amidst the market decline.

At 11:30 am, the BSE Sensex tumbled 0.36% reaching a level of 80,135. The Nifty 50 index fell 0.28% to the 24,409 level. On the Sensex, Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra and NTPC Ltd were among the top gainers, whereas Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv and Axis Bank were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

  1. U. Y. Fincorp Ltd

    Shares of U.Y. Fincorp Ltd experienced a remarkable surge in trading volume, increasing by 23 times today. This heightened buying interest propelled the stock to hit the 20% upper circuit, closing at Rs 28.03 per share on the BSE. The company is a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) specializing in inter-corporate loans, personal loans, and investments & trading in securities.

  2. Thyrocare Technologies Ltd

    Shares of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd saw a 14-fold increase in trading volume, climbing over 10% to reach an intraday high of Rs 717.20 per share on the BSE, nearing its 52-week high. The company, a leader in the healthcare industry, is a prominent diagnostic chain offering a wide range of medical diagnostic tests and services for disease and disorder management.

  3. Swan Energy Ltd

    Shares of Swan Energy Ltd witnessed an 11-fold surge in trading volume, experiencing strong buying interest and locking at the 5% upper circuit at Rs 702.55 per share on the BSE. Originally established as a manufacturer and marketer of cotton and polyester textile products in India, Swan Energy Ltd has since diversified into real estate and is currently developing a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit based LNG import terminal at Jafrabad in Gujarat.
