Benchmark indices traded significantly lower today, reflecting the deterioration in overnight US market trades and weak sentiments across major Asian markets. Financial services, banking, metals, and IT stocks were the most affected.

At 10:00 am, the BSE Sensex slumped 0.60% reaching a level of 79,671. The Nifty 50 index tumbled 0.56% to the 24,277 level. On the Sensex, Tata Motors, Larsen & Toubro and Kotak Mahindra Bank were among the top gainers, whereas Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and Titan were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

  1. RBL Bank Ltd

    Reflecting the broader weakness in banking sector stocks today, shares of RBL Bank Ltd saw a trading volume surge by hundreds of times and declined over 4%, reaching an intraday low of Rs 228 per share on the BSE. RBL Bank offers specialized services across various verticals, including corporate banking, commercial banking, branch & business banking, retail assets, and treasury & financial markets operations.

  2. PC Jeweller Ltd

    Shares of PC Jeweller Ltd experienced a threefold surge in trading volume, reflecting heightened buying interest. Consequently, the stock was locked at the 5% upper circuit, reaching Rs 81.75 per share on the BSE, marking a new 52-week high. The company is engaged in the manufacturing, sale, and trading of gold jewellery, diamond-studded jewellery, and silver items, operating across various geographical areas.

  3. State Trading Corporation of India Ltd

    Despite the prevailing weak market sentiments, shares of State Trading Corporation of India Ltd saw significant buying interest, climbing around 15% to reach a 52-week high of Rs 233.75 per share on the BSE. The company operates in the trading business on behalf of government and private parties, engaging in the import and export of a wide range of bulk agro products, including rice, wheat, castor oil, sugar, edible oils, hydrocarbons, metals, minerals, ores, fertilizers, and petrochemicals.
