Indian benchmark indices kicked off the trading session with a bang, soaring to record highs with robust gains. The surge attracted global investors following exit polls predicting a historic third-term victory for the BJP. Most sectors demonstrated resilience, while the power, utilities, energy, and capital goods sectors reached new heights.

At 11:00 am, the BSE Sensex soared 2.72% reaching a level of 75,970. The Nifty 50 index climbed 2.71% to the 23,141 level. On the Sensex, Power Grid Corporation of India, NTPC Ltd and State Bank of India were among the top gainers, whereas HCL Technologies, Asian Paints and Infosys were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

  1. Religare Enterprises Ltd

    Shares of Religare Enterprises Ltd surged more than 7% today, with a 42-fold increase in trading volume, reaching an intraday high of Rs 220 per share on the BSE. This diversified financial services company operates across India, offering loans to SMEs, affordable housing finance, health insurance, and retail broking.

  2. Swadeshi Polytex Ltd

    Shares of Swadeshi Polytex Ltd experienced heavy selling pressure with a 38-fold surge in trading volume and were locked at a 5% lower circuit, trading at Rs 202.30 per share on the BSE. The company is involved in the business of transacting in, owning, purchasing, selling, leasing, sub-leasing, renting, developing, and other related activities in various types of real estate, including land, plots, buildings, factories, warehouses, and infrastructure.

  3. Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd

    Shares of Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd climbed more than 12%, driven by strong buying interest, reaching a 52-week high of Rs 1,607.95 per share on the BSE. The company specializes in the development, operation, and maintenance of port infrastructure, including port services and related infrastructure development. It also operates a multi-product Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and associated infrastructure.
