Indian benchmark indices started the week on a lower note, impacted by losses in the consumer durables, metals, and information technology sectors, while broader indices continued to climb higher.

At 10:20 am, the BSE Sensex fell 0.13% reaching a level of 79,896. The Nifty 50 index decreased 0.09% to the 24,302 level. On the Sensex, Nestle India, Tata Motors and Hindustan Unilever were among the top gainers, whereas Titan, Asian Paints and Adani Ports were among the market draggers.

Some of the noteworthy volume movers are as follows:

  1. Godrej Industries Ltd

    Shares of Godrej Industries Ltd surged by more than 2% today, with a significant spurt in trading volume, reaching an intraday high of Rs 915 per share on the BSE. Godrej Industries, a holding company of the Godrej Group, has significant interests in consumer goods, real estate, agriculture, chemicals, and financial services through its subsidiary and associate companies across 18 countries.

  2. Metro Brands Ltd

    Shares of Metro Brands Ltd climbed more than 15% today, with a tenfold increase in trading volume, reaching an intraday high of Rs 1,396 per share on the BSE. The company is one of the largest Indian specialty retailers of footwear and accessories, known for being among the aspirational Indian brands in the footwear category. It serves as a one-stop shop for branded products for the entire family, including men, women, and children, catering to every occasion from casual to formal events.

  3. Patel Engineering Ltd

    Shares of Patel Engineering Ltd, experiencing heavy selling pressure, plunged over 12% to reach an intraday low of Rs 60.67 per share on the BSE. The company is involved in the construction of dams, bridges, tunnels, roads, piling works, industrial structures, and other heavy civil engineering projects in sectors such as hydro, irrigation and water supply, urban infrastructure, and transport.
