The merger’s operational aspects are expected to be fully functional by early to mid-2025, following the completion of all legal and regulatory procedures as all the legal approvals are expected by the mid- 2024

Strategic Importance

The merger of Air India and Vistara under Tata Group promises to strengthen India’s aviation sector, offering expanded services and network. It positions the conglomerate for big competition with IndiGo. Integration of AirAsia India and Air India Express into the unified Air India brand further aligns with Tata’s strategy for efficiency and coherence.

Conclusion: In conclusion, overall, the merger of Air India and Vistara, set to be completed by late 2024 or early 2025, will position Air India as India’s largest international airline and second-largest domestic carrier. It is expected to reshape the aviation landscape in India, offering improved services and operational efficiencies while leveraging the combined expertise and resources of both airlines.
