The competition in the quick food delivery market has intensified as Blinkit, a Zomato subsidiary, launches its new app, Bistro. This move follows Zepto’s introduction of Zepto Cafe, with both platforms aiming to capture the growing demand for snacks, meals, and beverages delivered in just 10 minutes.
Bistro, currently available on the Google Play Store with plans for an Apple App Store release, focuses on delivering ready-to-eat items. The menu includes snacks like samosas, sandwiches, pastries, and beverages such as coffee. This marks Blinkit’s second attempt at instant food delivery after its earlier venture, Zomato Instant, which was discontinued.
The launch aims to diversify Blinkit’s operations beyond grocery delivery. Bistro uses Blinkit’s existing logistics infrastructure to cater to the demand for quick, light meals, targeting urban consumers who prioritize convenience and speed.
The launch of Bistro comes amid growing interest in the instant food segment. Platforms such as Swiggy Bolt, Zepto Cafe, and the newly funded startup Swish are focusing on readymade food delivery to tap into alternative revenue streams. These services cater to a market seeking convenience over full meals, offering items like sandwiches, pastries, and beverages.
