Introduction

In a significant move towards ensuring seamless trading operations, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has announced live trading sessions from its Disaster Recovery (DR) site. This proactive measure covers various segments, including Equity, Equity Derivatives, Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB), Currency Derivatives, Commodity Derivatives, and Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR). Here’s everything you need to know about this crucial update.

Schedule and Segments

The live trading sessions from the DR site are scheduled as follows:

  • Monday, June 17, 2024: Commodity Derivatives and EGR segments will have a live trading session during the second session of the day.
  • Tuesday, June 18, 2024, and Wednesday, 19th June 2024: All trading segments will conduct live trading during normal market timings.

Technical Requirements

To ensure a smooth transition and operation from the DR site, trading members are required to make specific technical adjustments:

  1. DNS Settings: Add a secondary DNS entry in your terminal. The preferred DNS server IP is 10.1.125.122, and the new secondary DNS IP is 10.1.22.162. This addition helps in the seamless resolution of leased line-based URLs, whether operating from the primary or the DR site.
  2. Connection Parameters: Members must set up the technical connection parameters for the Hyderabad DR site, detailed in Annexure 1. This includes settings for both BOLT Plus trading system users (BOLT TWS) and those connecting through ETI.
  3. Web-based Systems: For other Exchange web-based systems like RTRMS, ZT, CLASS collateral, and Extranet, members can connect using the weblinks provided in Annexure 2 with their existing user IDs and passwords. Adjustments to the remote server IP and port settings in the setting.ini file are necessary as per the DR connection parameters.

Conclusion

BSE’s initiative to conduct live trading sessions from its Disaster Recovery site is a testament to its commitment to operational continuity and resilience. By following the specified technical adjustments, trading members can ensure smooth participation in these sessions, maintaining uninterrupted trading activities. This proactive step underscores the importance of preparedness and robust infrastructure in the financial markets.
