In a move to fortify the textile sector, the Indian government has decided to extend the deadline for inviting fresh applications under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles. The new deadline is set for December 31, 2023, providing interested parties with an extended opportunity to participate in this transformative scheme.
India boasts a substantial share in manmade fibre (MMF) products, encompassing fibre, yarn, fabrics, made-ups, and readymade garments of MMF, within the broader Textiles & Apparel export sector, which also includes handicrafts.
The PLI Scheme for Textiles strategically concentrates on MMF Apparel, MMF Fabrics, and Technical Textiles. Currently, 64 carefully selected applicants are gearing up to establish 84 units spread across 14 states and 1 Union Territory, with noteworthy allocations including one unit in Odisha and ten in Maharashtra.
In a bid to encourage active participation and facilitate greater industry involvement, the government has chosen to extend the deadline for inviting fresh applications through the online portal. As of now, applications are actively being received, presenting a valuable opportunity for businesses and entrepreneurs in the textile industry.
The industry is gearing up to tap into the immense potential of the MMF and Technical Textiles segment, recognized as a sunrise industry. This growth trajectory is further supported by both the PLI Scheme for Textiles and the National Technical Textiles Mission.
