GE Power India Limited (GEPIL) announced a significant new order securing a Letter of Intent from NTPC GE Power Services Pvt. Limited (NGSL) for the renovation and modernisation of steam turbines at Wanakbori Thermal Power Station (TPS) Units 1 & 2. This project focuses on enhancing the performance and longevity of the existing LMZ steam turbines powering Units 1 and 2 of the Wanakbori TPS. Located in Vadodara, Gujarat, the Wanakbori TPS plays a critical role in meeting India’s energy demands.
The project has been awarded by NGSL, a joint venture company formed by GEPIL and NTPC Limited. NGSL will act as the lead bidder, and GEPIL will serve as a key partner within the consortium. This collaborative approach leverages the strengths of both entities, ensuring the successful execution of this vital project.
GEPIL will support a significant portion of the project’s responsibilities. The company will be responsible for providing critical supplies, including design and engineering solutions, and the crucial testing and commissioning of the renovated systems. GEPIL’s proven track record in power plant renovation and its deep understanding of LMZ steam turbines make them ideally suited for this project.
The project is expected to be finalised with a targeted completion timeframe of 33 months. The total contract value stands at ₹243,46,36,179, signifying a substantial investment in modernising India’s power generation infrastructure.
