Due to the Diwali 2024 festival, there is a lot of confusion regarding the stock market holiday on October 31, 2024, and November 01, 2024. To clear up any doubt, the NSE has announced that the markets will open on October 31, 2024, and that November 1, 2024, will be a market holiday.
Muhurat trading is a special trading session conducted on Laxmi Pujan Day during Diwali. Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE will host this symbolic session. Traders can engage in various segments, including equities, commodities, currency derivatives, securities lending and borrowing, and futures and options. As per the exchanges’ guidelines, all intra-day trading positions will be automatically squared off 15 minutes before the session ends.
The tradition of Muhurat trading holds great cultural importance. On Diwali, Goddess Laxmi, the deity of wealth, is worshipped, and this trading session is viewed as a way to commence the new year with her blessings. Many traders and investors believe that purchasing shares during this period will attract prosperity and good fortune for the year ahead. Some even choose to open new trading accounts on this day to start their investment journey anew.
