Jindal Stainless, India’s premier stainless steel manufacturer, has achieved a significant milestone by securing accreditation from BrahMos Aerospace Pvt. Ltd as a qualified vendor for the production and supply of steel sheets and plates from its Hisar plant in Haryana. This recognition comes after BrahMos conducted a rigorous quality and credentials assessment to select Jindal Stainless, Hisar, as a supplier for its renowned cruise missiles.
The accreditation underscores Jindal Stainless’ unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in producing high-quality materials that are vital for national security. Jindal Stainless, Hisar, will manufacture and supply tailored stainless steel and speciality low-alloy steel sheets and plates that meet the exacting technical specifications of BrahMos Aerospace. This achievement marks a continuation of Jindal Stainless’ successful track record of supplying materials for critical projects under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The company has previously contributed to India’s lunar mission Chandrayaan, the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mk3 (GSLV Mk3), the nuclear submarine missile system, missile canisters for various missile programs, and exhaust units in rockets. Jindal Stainless remains dedicated to meeting the material requirements of upcoming missile programs.
As one of the select few globally certified companies with the AS 9100D certification, a quality management system specifically designed for aviation, space, and defence organisations, Jindal Stainless has recently demonstrated its capabilities by developing and supplying 3 mm special alloy steel sheets for the Supersonic Missile-Assisted Release of Torpedo (SMART) system. These specialised sheets, manufactured by Jindal Stainless, Hisar, in an exceptionally short turnaround time, offer exceptional thermal stability and high-pressure resistance during flight, significantly enhancing the Indian Navy’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities.
Commenting on this significant development, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, Mr Abhyuday Jindal, stated, “This milestone underscores our role in, and commitment to, India’s defence sector. We envision an India that is completely Atmanirbhar in its defence requirement. In line with this vision, we are enhancing our capabilities to meet and exceed the stringent conditions for such critical applications. Contributing to the strengthening of our country’s defence standing is a matter of passion and pride for us.”
