Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Power Grid) has been declared the successful bidder under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process for 2 projects aimed at upgrading India’s Inter-State Transmission System. The projects, announced on January 6, 2025, will be executed under the Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model and focus on substations in Gujarat and Karnataka.
Project 1: Gujarat Substations – KPS1 and KPS2
The first project involves the augmentation of transformation capacity at the under-construction KPS1 (GIS) and KPS2 (GIS) substations in Gujarat. This initiative is part of the Phase-V Part B1 and Part B2 scheme to strengthen the power transmission network in the state.
Project 2: Karnataka Substation – Bidar PS
The second project focuses on the Bidar PS substation in Karnataka. The planned upgrades include:
These improvements are to meet the increasing electricity demands in the area and support the state’s growing infrastructure needs. Power Grid received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for both projects on January 6, 2025.
Headquartered in Gurugram, Power Grid Corporation of India is responsible for managing the National Grid, which ensures the transmission of electricity from suppliers to consumers across the country. The company also undertakes the construction of interstate transmission systems and provides consultancy services in the sector.
Following the announcement, Power Grid shares, at 12:15 PM were trading at ₹305.35, down ₹0.65 (0.21%) for the day, a decline of 10.03% over the past six months, but showing a gain of around 26% over the past year.
