Sealmatic India Limited has announced the acquisition of an order for engineered mechanical seals for the supercritical power plant project being developed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) at the DVC Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station, Phase II, which has a capacity of 660 MW x 2, totalling 1320 MW.
These mechanical seals are critical components for high-demand applications, including Boiler Feed Pumps, Booster Pumps, Turbine Pumps, and Condensate Extraction Pumps. The successful delivery of these seals will not only ensure the efficient operation of these mission-critical pumps but also secure long-term operation and maintenance (O&M) business for Sealmatic.
BHEL, a prominent integrated power plant equipment manufacturer under the Government of India, stands as one of the largest engineering and manufacturing firms in the country. It has played a pivotal role in the development of the indigenous Heavy Electrical Equipment industry in India, boasting a strong track record of performance. BHEL is responsible for supplying the supercritical pumps needed for the DVC project, which currently has an installed capacity of 6687.2 MW and numerous projects in the pipeline.
DVC is entrusted with the essential task of supporting industrial growth in the resource-rich Damodar Valley region. The company employs cutting-edge technology to provide bulk power at competitive rates to various industries. The construction of an additional 1320 MW capacity by DVC will create significant opportunities for Sealmatic, enabling a profitable business model that can last throughout the lifetime of the equipment, which is expected to be around 40 years.
Sealmatic specialises in designing and manufacturing high-precision, heavy-duty mechanical seals widely used in both nuclear and thermal power plant applications. This latest order further solidifies Sealmatic’s position in the power sector, demonstrating its commitment to delivering reliable and innovative sealing solutions.
Zakir Chaudhary, who oversees the engineering and designing of heavy-duty mechanical seals for thermal and nuclear power applications stated that this order is not only prestigious but also a matter of pride for the company. He further added that as an Indigenous of mechanical seals, Sealmatic is the only approved vendor for such super-critical applications for the 660 MW power plants at BHEL, other than very few foreign vendors.
On September 24, 2024, the share price of Sealmatic India Ltd opened at ₹613.95, touching the day’s high at ₹642.00, as of 10:15 AM on the BSE.
