The Odisha government has disbursed the 3rd phase of the first instalment under the Subhadra Yojana, providing ₹5,000 each to over 20 lakh women. The initiative aims to empower women through direct financial support.

Transfer of Funds and Key Figures

The funds were distributed during a public event in Sundargarh, Odisha. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced that more than ₹1,000 crore has been transferred under the scheme so far, benefiting 80 lakh women. The state government plans to extend the programme to cover over 1 crore women by December 2024.

Difference Between Subhadra Yojana and Mission Shakti

Majhi highlighted that Subhadra Yojana directly provides financial assistance to women, in contrast to Mission Shakti, which offers interest-free loans. He referred to Subhadra Yojana as Odisha’s largest welfare initiative, benefiting over 1 crore women across the state.

Sundargarh District Impact

In Sundargarh district, over 4.59 lakh women registered for the scheme, and more than 3.37 lakh women received their first instalment in this phase.
