Tata Elxsi Limited and CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL) have entered into a strategic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive innovation in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).

The collaboration focuses on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, combining NAL’s aeronautical expertise with Tata Elxsi’s technological capabilities in electrification, AI/ML, sensor fusion, and certification processes.
With a rapidly evolving global market for UAVs and UAM across industries such as logistics, agriculture, defence, and urban transportation, this partnership is poised to accelerate product development cycles. By leveraging advanced testing infrastructure, methodologies, and expertise, Tata Elxsi and CSIR-NAL aim to enable efficient solutions for both manned and unmanned air mobility systems. Key technological focus areas include aerodynamic design, autonomous systems, and secure communications.
India’s push for initiatives like “Make in India” and indigenisation, coupled with a growing demand for advanced air mobility, offers significant opportunities for this partnership. It is expected to contribute to building a robust ecosystem involving precision manufacturing, component suppliers, and tool vendors, shaping industry regulations and standards for sustainable innovation.
