Tata Elxsi, a leading global engineering and design services company, announced a strategic collaboration with Red Hat, the world’s premier provider of enterprise open-source solutions. This partnership aims to unlock the full potential of 5G networks for Telcos and enterprises by focusing on two key objectives: accelerated monetisation and reduced operational expenses (OpEx).
The collaboration establishes a “use case factory” designed to develop industry-specific 5G applications. This initiative will empower Telcos to generate new revenue streams by leveraging proven verticalised applications and co-developed solutions across diverse sectors, including transportation, manufacturing, and healthcare.
The automotive industry’s rapid shift towards Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) presents a compelling use case. The collaboration will address the growing demand for secure, real-time Over-the-Air (OTA) updates and containerised services delivered through 5G networks.
Telcos can cater to these needs with a comprehensive solution that integrates Tata Elxsi’s TETHER (globally deployed connected vehicle platform) and NEURON (award-winning network automation platform) with Red Hat’s industry-leading OpenShift hybrid cloud application platform and In-Vehicle Operating System. This combined offering empowers Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to deploy subscription-based services and platforms for connected vehicles, featuring advanced fleet management and real-time OTA capabilities.
By harnessing the synergy between Tata Elxsi’s NEURON and Red Hat OpenShift, Telcos can achieve a transformative shift towards automated, cloud-integrated, and service-orchestrated networks. This powerful combination not only streamlines operations but also delivers significant OpEx reductions, paving the way for a more efficient and profitable telecom landscape.
Tata Elxsi’s NEURON platform offers a comprehensive suite of functionalities, streamlining network element lifecycle management, providing end-to-end orchestration for deployments, utilising AI-powered observability for proactive monitoring, and automating tasks for secure and streamlined network operations.
“As we enter the era of 5G in automotive, healthcare, and Industry 4.0, telcos are at the forefront, crafting customer-centric services and embracing new technologies. This shift demands a move towards cloudification, multi-cloud adoption, intelligent cognitive network operations and automation. We are delighted to enable this transition alongside Red Hat, driving Telco 5G Multi-Cloud Automation and edge intelligence to provide our clients with unique services,” said Vivek Tiwary, Vice President and Head of Telco 5G Business Tata Elxsi.
“Collaborating with Tata Elxsi, we are excited to leverage Red Hat OpenShift to provide telcos with enhanced monetisation opportunities. This work is a testament to our commitment to delivering innovative solutions that drive growth and efficiency in the telecom sector,” Mark Longwell, Director, Telco and Edge Alliances, Red Hat.
