On Tuesday, the benchmark indices were trading in the green with the Sensex up around 25 points or 0.04% at 72,795, while the Nifty-50 was up around 12 points or 0.06% at 22,115. About 2,290 shares have advanced; 1,066 declined and 164 are unchanged on the BSE.
Top gainers and losers on the BSE Sensex index:
The top Sensex gainers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, NTPC Ltd and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd while the top Sensex losers were Asian Paints Ltd, Axis Bank and Nestle India Ltd.
The indices in the broader markets were trading in green with the BSE Mid-cap index up 0.31% and the BSE Small-Cap Index up 0.79%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were Canara Bank and Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. In contrast, Alembic Ltd and IFCI Ltd were the top small-cap gainers.
The BSE Metals Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and the BSE Information Technology Index was the top losing sector. The BSE Metals Index gained by 1.50%, up by Jindal Steel & Power Ltd and NMDC Ltd while the BSE Information Technology Index is down by 0.30% dragged by Vakrangee Limited and RateGain Travel Technologies Ltd.
In the pre-opening session, these three stocks were trending: Salasar Techno Engineering Ltd, Jupiter Wagons Ltd and Aarti Pharmalabs Ltd.
