On Tuesday, the benchmark indices were trading in the red with the Sensex down around 283 points or 0.40% at 72,550, while the Nifty-50 down around 64 points or 0.29% at 22,033. About 1,476 shares have advanced; 2,141 declined; and 178 are unchanged on the BSE.
Top gainers and losers on the BSE Sensex index:
The top Sensex gainers were Bajaj Finance Ltd, Bajaj FinServ and Tata Motors Ltd while the top Sensex losers were Tech Mahindra Ltd, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and Power Grid Corporation Ltd.
The indices in the broader markets were trading mixed, with the BSE Mid-cap index up 0.10% and the BSE Small-Cap Index down 0.10%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were Oil India Ltd and Torrent Power Ltd, while the top small-cap gainers were Manoj Vaibhav Gems N Jewellers Ltd and Hardwyn India Ltd.
The BSE Capital Goods Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and the BSE Teck Index was the top losing sector. The BSE Capital Goods Index gained by 0.90%, up by Finolex Cables Ltd and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd while the BSE Information Technology Index is up by 1.70% led by Sterlite Technologies Ltd and Tanla Platforms Ltd.
In the pre-opening session, these three stocks were trending: Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd, Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd and Bharat Bijlee Ltd.
