After closing modestly lower in the previous trading session, Indian benchmark indices displayed renewed investor optimism today, edging towards recently achieved record highs. Metals, oil & gas, energy, and real estate sectors witnessed significant gains, while broader markets also showed notable resilience.
At 10:10 am, the BSE Sensex gained 0.25% reaching a level of 74,866. The Nifty 50 index added 0.24% to the 22,697 level. On the Sensex, Tata Steel, Reliance Industries and Bharti Airtel were among the top gainers, whereas Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Tata Consultancy Services and HDFC Bank were among the market draggers.

Protean eGov Technologies Ltd saw a remarkable six-fold increase in trading volume as its shares surged over 4% to hit an intraday high of Rs 1,183.70 per share on the BSE. The company specializes in developing citizen-centric and population-scale e-governance solutions aimed at supporting and streamlining governance processes for government entities, citizens, and businesses alike. It provides a wide range of services, including system integration, business process re-engineering, data centre co-location, and IT consulting services.
HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd observed a significant five-fold surge in trading volume, trading slightly lower and reaching an intraday low of Rs 629.40 per share on the BSE. The company specializes in the life insurance business, offering a diverse range of individual and group insurance solutions. Its portfolio includes various insurance and investment products such as protection, pension, and savings plans.
