Zomato-owned quick-commerce platform Blinkit has ventured into healthcare services by launching a 10-minute ambulance service in Gurugram. This initiative was announced by Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa on Thursday.
He stated, “We are taking our first step towards solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance service in our cities. The first five ambulances will be on the road in Gurugram starting today.”
Consumers can request an ambulance directly through the Blinkit app. The company’s CEO stated that the service starts with five ambulances equipped with essential life-saving equipment, including oxygen cylinders, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and emergency medicines. Each ambulance will also have a trained paramedic and an assistant to ensure immediate medical attention during emergencies.
Dhindsa shared that Blinkit plans to expand this service to all major cities in India within the next two years. By making ambulances available at an “affordable cost,” the company aims to bridge the gap in emergency healthcare access. Blinkit has committed to investing more resources to scale this initiative and provide reliable ambulance services across the country.
Over the years, the company has introduced unique services such as the delivery of printouts and passport-size photographs. Recently, Blinkit entered the 10-minute food delivery space with a standalone app called Bistro.
Blinkit’s diversification comes amid increased competition in the quick-commerce space. Rivals like Swiggy operate similar services under Bolt, while Zepto offers 10-minute food delivery through Zepto Café.
On January 3, 2025, Zomato share price (NSE: ZOMATO) opened at ₹285.00, touching the day’s low at ₹282.10, as of 9:45 AM on the NSE.
