History of Amber Enterprises India Limited (AEIL)

Incorporated in 1990, Amber Enterprises India Limited (AEIL) is involved in the manufacturing of room air conditioners and their components for the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)/ Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) industry. The company began its operations in 1994 in a single factory located at Rajpura, Punjab. In 2001, Amber Enterprises India started Room Air Conditioner (RAC) manufacturing as an OEM. In 2004, the company started manufacturing RAC and sheet metal components. In the next year, 2005, they started manufacturing components for microwaves. In 2007, the company established the Noida Ecotech Unit. In 2008, they started heat exchangers as component manufacturing. In 2009, the company established Dehradun Factory Unit 5 in order to build on capacities for ODM and finished goods. In 2012, Amber Enterprises India’s Jhajjar Unit was set up to expand its geographical presence and attract new customers. In 2018, they went public and got listed on the exchanges. In 2022, the company set up another unit, Sricity. As of March 2023, the company has 27 manufacturing plants in India located in 9 regions.

There are 5 primary business divisions of the company, which are as follows:
  • Room Air Conditioners: Under this segment, the company manufactures air conditioners of different models, such as split air conditioners, window room air conditioners, and inverter split air conditioners.
  • Components ( RAC & Non-RAC): Under this segment, the company manufactures components such as heat exchangers, sheet metal components, copper tubing, plastic extrusion, vacuum forming, tooling and Cross Flow Fans (CFF).
  • Motors: Under this, the company manufactures Electrical motors, BLDC motors and single-phase PSC motors.
  • Mobility Applications: In this segment, the company manufactures mobile air conditioners, such as railway air conditioners, metro air conditioners, bus air conditioners, and air conditioning solutions in the defence, telecom and IT industries.
  • Electronics: Under this segment, the company manufactures electronics, such as Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), smart watches, Bluetooth speakers, top-loading and front-load BLDC washing machines, telecom radio remote head units, production tester PCBA assemblies, ONT routers, window AC indoor unit control box, BLDC ceiling fan PCBA, and more.
As of March 31, 2023, the few subsidiaries of Amber Enterprises India Limited are as follows:
  • Sidwal Refrigeration Industries Private Limited: This is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company that supplies roof-mounted package unit air conditioners in India.
  • PICL (India) Private Limited: This wholly-owned subsidiary of the company supplies electric motors to the RAC industry.
  • IL JIN Electronics (India) Private Limited: This subsidiary of the company manufactures Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) for air conditioners, microwaves and washing machines. AEIL holds a stake of 70% in this company.
