Promoted by Y I P Sehgal and the late Ashok Kumar Wadhawan, International Pumps and Projects was incorporated on 19 Jul.'80 as a private limited company. It became a public limited company in Dec.'94.
In 1980, the company established its turnkey projects division to execute turnkey projects for pumping stations for central and various state governments and public sector undertakings. It also entered into marketing of pumps and other related products. In Mar.'92, a dealership agreement was entered into, with SU Motors (P) Ltd, Bombay, to market their pumps and related products. It also entered into an agreement with SU Submersile Pumps (P) Ltd, Noida, for the resale of their submersile pumps. Presently, the company is engaged in marketing of submersile pumps, dewatering pumps, chemical process pumps, centrifugal and vertical turbine pumps and its spare parts alongwith electrical equipments and accessories.
In 1992, the company diversified into the manufacture of alternators, a critical component used in power generating sets. It entered into agreements with Jyoti, Baroda, for supply of technology, use of Jyoti trade mark and marketing. A pilot plant was set up in Okhla, New Delhi, for manufacturing alternators and commenced production in Aug.'94. In 1995-96, it proposed to convert the pilot plant into a full-fledged commercial project at Noida, UP, to manufacture 2600 pa of alternators. Partial production at this plant commenced in Dec.'95.
