About Saka

Onida Saka, belonging to the Onida group, incorporated in 1981 as Saka Electronics Pvt Ltd, was converted into a public limited company in Apr.'90. The name was changed to the present one in Mar.'90. The company manufactures a wide range of consumer electronic goods and household appliances. It started business by servicing electronic goods in 1982. Gradually, it started manufacturing audio systems, colour TVs and black & white TVs. In 1984, the company tied up with JVC, Japan, for technical collaboration to manufacture colour TVs, VCRs, camcorders and audio equipment. The company's product range also includes washing manchines and air-conditioners. At present, it makes about 1,05,000 TV sets pm. In 1995, the company introduced an advanced state-of-the-art 29" colour television set. Its products are being sold under the well known Onida brand name. It was the top TV selling company during 1991. At present, the company is ranked third in the TV industry. It exports its products to Europe and West Asia. During 1995-96, the company launched various new Black & White TV models in 14" and 17" series with electronic tuner and remote. In 1996-97, manufacturing facilities at Noida became duly functional and all the operting offices were shifted to Noida. During the year 1999-2000, the company has been recently awarded the certificate of ISO-9002 from Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI). The company had introduced 14" and 20" CTV segments to meet the customers preferences with all the latest features.
