Incorporated as Pratham Oils & Chemicals Pvt Ltd in Oct.'91, Tinna Oils & Chemicals (TOCL) was converted into a public limited company in Sep.'92. The company was promoted by Bhupinder Kumar and Dilip Kumar. The other group companies are Tinna Overseas, Tinna Enterprises, Gautam Footwear, Tinna Shipping & Warehousing, etc. In Sep.'93, the company came out with a par issue aggregating Rs 3 cr to part-finance a Rs 13.6-cr project of setting up an integrated oil complex at MIDC, Latur, consisting of an extruder, an expander, a solvent extraction plant and an oil refinery. Its products are refined oil, raw oil and de-oiled cakes. TOCL manufactures sunflower oil and markets it under the brand names Sunfit and Soyafit. The company is diversifying into mechanised cargo handling facility at Vishakapatnam at a project cost of Rs 4.6 cr. With the implementation of this project, the average loading rate will increase to 4000 tpd. In 1996-97, it earned foreign exchange worth Rs 4.76 crores.
