On July 31, 2024, Fischer Medical Ventures Ltd announced that it has teamed up with Bio Angle Vacs Sdn Bhd to introduce its innovative vaccines to India. These vaccines are designed to lower the death rates in livestock and aquaculture significantly.

Fischer Medical Ventures Ltd is investing in and working with Bio Angle Vacs Sdn Bhd, a top biotech company from Malaysia. Established in 2013, Bio Angle Vacs specialises in creating and distributing vaccines for livestock and aquaculture. It is known for its innovative vaccine delivery methods that ensure high quality, safety, and effectiveness.

Innovative Vaccine Technology

Their main product, the Spray Technology Vaccine (STVAC), uses advanced technology to provide both local and overall immune protection. This vaccine, delivered through a simple nasal spray, is designed to protect goats and sheep from pneumonia, a disease that affects 30% to 60% of these animals worldwide. Unlike traditional vaccines that require injections and are costly and stressful for animals, STVAC is easier to administer, less stressful for animals, and more affordable for farmers. It significantly lowers pneumonia-related death rates in goats and sheep to below 5%.

Fischer MV’s Role and Expertise

Fischer Medical Ventures Ltd (formerly Fischer Chemic Ltd) is known for offering affordable, high-quality medical diagnostic and imaging technologies. They use the latest innovations and AI software to enhance healthcare. Fischer MV was the first in India to make advanced MRI systems and has a wide range of diagnostic tools and AI healthcare solutions. By partnering with BAV, Fischer MV is expanding into preventive healthcare for livestock and aquaculture, showing its commitment to improving health and food security.

Future Plans

Fischer MV and BAV plan to build a production facility in India to supply vaccines to the local market and the Middle East, where livestock populations are among the largest in the world.

BAV’s Spray Technology Vaccine (STVAC) was created and patented by BAV’s founder, Prof. Mohd Zamri Saad, in partnership with scientists from Universiti Putra Malaysia’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Along with STVAC, BAV has developed other innovative solutions:

  • VIVAC aqua-feed: This vaccine protects against various Vibrio bacteria affecting marine fish in Asia. It’s given through fish feed, making it easier and cheaper for small and medium-sized fish farms compared to traditional injections.
  • AQUABOOSTER: An oral vaccine that protects against multiple harmful bacteria in freshwater fish. It has been shown to increase survival rates by 60-90%.
  • SEABIOBROWN: A feed enhancer for shrimp that combines prebiotics and probiotics to prevent diseases like AHPND and vibriosis, which cause early mortality syndrome in shrimp.
