In a remarkable display of efficiency and commitment to tax compliance, the Indian Income Tax Department has achieved a monumental feat for the Assessment Year 2023-24. A staggering 30.75 lakh audit reports, including a whopping 29.5 lakh Tax Audit Reports (TARs), have been meticulously filed on the e-filing portal by the end of the due date, September 30, 2023. This monumental accomplishment encompasses various audit reports in Form No. 29B, 29C, 10CCB, and more, showcasing a nationwide dedication to timely adherence to tax regulations.

To empower and educate taxpayers, the department embarked on an extensive outreach campaign, leaving no stone unturned. Over 55.4 lakh outreach initiatives were conducted, ranging from informative emails and SMSs to impactful social media campaigns. The Income Tax portal became a hub of enlightenment, hosting a plethora of user awareness videos, providing invaluable guidance to both taxpayers and tax professionals. These concerted efforts proved instrumental in ensuring that audit reports were filed punctually, showcasing the department’s commitment to facilitating compliance.

But that’s not all. The e-filing portal itself stood as a paragon of technological prowess, smoothly handling the surging traffic. It provided a seamless and hassle-free experience to taxpayers and tax professionals alike, who lauded this remarkable achievement across various social media platforms.

The e-filing Helpdesk team played a pivotal role during this period, fielding approximately 2.36 lakh queries from taxpayers in September 2023. Their proactive approach ensured that taxpayers and tax professionals received timely support in resolving any complexities they encountered. This assistance extended across multiple channels, including inbound and outbound calls, live chats, Webex meetings, and co-browsing sessions. The Helpdesk team even took to Twitter, addressing queries through Online Response Management (ORM), providing real-time assistance to taxpayers and stakeholders. Furthermore, a series of informative webinars were conducted to guide tax professionals through the intricacies of filing Audit forms.

The Indian Income Tax Department extends its heartfelt gratitude to all tax professionals and taxpayers for their unwavering support in adhering to tax compliances. This extraordinary achievement stands as a testament to the collaborative spirit of the Indian tax ecosystem and reaffirms the department’s commitment to excellence in tax administration.
