Job Title: Director of Data Science

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka

What you will do: 

• Define and execute the data science roadmap aligning with the company’s strategic objectives and cross-functional needs.

• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers to foster a high-performing and innovative team environment.

• Drive the development and deployment of sophisticated models and algorithms that address key business challenges.

• Collaborate with executive leadership and stakeholders across Product, Engineering, and Business teams to prioritise data initiatives and resource allocation.

• Ensure the implementation of best practices in data management, model development, validation, deployment and monitoring.

• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI technologies.

• Promote a data-driven culture across the organization, enhancing data literacy at all levels.

• Facilitate the adoption of platform features to support model development, deployment, and continuous monitoring.

• Communicate technical concepts and the impact of data science initiatives to non-technical stakeholders.

Who you are: 

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

• Proven track record of leading data science projects on large-scale consumer-facing applications from conception to implementation, delivering tangible business impact.

• Strong hands-on knowledge of machine learning, predictive modelling, statistics, and optimisation techniques.

• Experience with data science tools and languages (e.g., Python, SQL scikit-learn, PyTorch/Tensorflow).

• Demonstrated ability to build and manage a high-performing team.

• Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.

• Prior experience with cloud platforms and big data technologies (e.g., AWS, Spark).

• Strategic thinking with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
