Role: Data Science & Product Strategy reporting to CDO

Location: Bangalore

Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned, techno-functional leader to join as Director – Product Data Science. This is a senior role for a candidate who can seamlessly bridge business objectives, product thinking, and deep data science capabilities. You will lead high-priority problem-solving across business domains while ensuring scalable ML adoption in collaboration with Data Science, Product, Business, Compliance, and CXO stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Ownership & Problem Solving:

• Architect and lead data science solutions for key business challenges:
• Build intelligent User Quality Scoring frameworks to drive acquisition, engagement, and monetization.
• Design Customer Lifetime Value (LTV) prediction models leveraging behavior, funding, trading, and retention signals.
• Deploy Churn Prediction systems and collaborate on product-led retention strategies.
• Champion Personalized Recommendations across features, products, and services to drive relevance and stickiness.
• Create Cross-sell/Upsell engines integrated with CRM and campaign platforms.
• Enable Loan Risk & Recoverability models that meet both business goals and regulatory standards.
• Guide development of Chatbots using LLMs for discovery, onboarding, support, and sales enablement.
• Predict Trading Behavior using real-time market data, news sentiment, and economic signals.
• Drive Behavioral Segmentation and Classification for product and marketing use cases.
• Partner with growth teams to optimize performance marketing campaigns through ML targeting and uplift modeling.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Define and own the product data science roadmap in partnership with CXOs, product heads, and business owners.
• Engage with Product Managers to embed ML within product journeys and decision engines.
• Collaborate with Compliance and Security teams to ensure ethical AI use, data privacy, and explainability in models.
• Work closely with Marketing, Growth, Lending, Risk, and Customer Success leaders to translate business needs into ML-powered products.

Team & Process Leadership:

• Partner with the Data Science org to define clear ownership for each initiative and streamline model development lifecycles.
• Build functional specifications, success metrics, and review frameworks that align business impact with data science progress.
• Mentor and coach cross-disciplinary teams to elevate analytical thinking, product orientation, and delivery standards.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience (12+ years) across data science, product analytics, and business strategy in a senior leadership capacity.
• Strong blend of ML expertise, product intuition, and stakeholder management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end model lifecycle from idea to production at scale.
• Hands-on experience in classical ML, deep learning, and emerging Gen AI/LLM applications.
• Expertise in building ML systems for personalization, recommendation, risk, segmentation, and performance marketing.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills — with CXOs, product owners, legal, compliance, and engineering.
• Background in fintech or digital consumer businesses strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field (MBA is a plus).
