As a finance professional, it is important to have a solid understanding of the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS). This universal system provides consistent definitions for economic sectors and industries, making it easier to compare and analyze companies on a global scale. With four levels of classification – sector, industry group, industry, and sub-industry – GICS helps us categorize the constituents of various indices.
