Recourse

A bill of exchange entitles the holder to demand payment from someone other than the initial acceptor, known as the right of recourse. This can be done through endorsement, which may or may not hold the endorser liable. A holder can endorse a bill without recourse, relieving themselves of any liability to subsequent holders.
